How To Use A Nectar Collector

What is a Nectar Collector?

A nectar collector is the latest trend in the world of dabbing. With a straight tube design, using a nectar collector looks like using a straw to drink. So, what are nectar collectors used for? These help in smoking oils and waxes.

A nectar collector has a neck, body, and a tip. The materials that are most commonly used to make nectar collectors are glass and silicone. For the tips, usually, titanium, quartz, or ceramic are used.

The nectar collector also has a mouthpiece that is used to inhale the smoke. The mouthpiece is removable, which means, you can easily clean it without any hassle. This also makes the nectar collector great for carrying around with you.

The main body of the nectar collector is right at the center of it. It also consists of a percolator, which is used to cool down and filter the smoke. Every nectar collector comes with a filtration system whose main job is to filter the smoke.

Types of Nectar Collectors

By Material:

Silicone Nectar Collector

Silicone Nectar Collector

Silicone nectar collector is made of "food safe" silicone body that's connected to the strong glass chamber for you to check out the smoke volume, comes with a titanium nail to deliver a smooth dab. It can be stored in the freezer without causing any damage to the collector. This helps cool down the vapor so that it does not irritate your throat when you sit down to smoke it.

Another benefit of a silicone collector is that it does not break easily, making it the most durable and long-lasting. You can travel easily with it without worrying about seeing the shattered pieces.

This impressive nectar collector has a six-armed tree perc in its chamber. You need to add water to this chamber to cool down your dabs. It also works as a filtration system. It also comes with angular edges that make sure the collector does not slip from the table. Also, it is extremely easy to clean this collector as every part is detachable.

Glass Nectar Collector

Glass Nectar Collector

Glass nectar collectors are the most popular and classic type since glass does not affect the flavor of the vapor. What does this mean? It simply means that when you are smoking, you get pure vapor that does not interact with any molecules when it makes its way up. So, you can enjoy the original flavor of your vapor without any chemical flavors mixed with it.

The neck of this collector is detachable, making it easy to clean and take care of. It is also quite easy to assemble this glass nectar collector.

Wood Nectar Collector

The wood nectar collector usually comes with a glass tip and wooden sleeve. It is one of the best ways to enjoy waxy concentrates. It is also quite easy to use. Simply heat up the glass tip and dip into your waxy oil concentrates to enjoy it.

It is made using high-quality materials. It makes use of high quality glass for the tip and cherry hardwood for the body. It also contains neodymium magnets. Also, the thing that makes this nectar collector so special is the fact that you can pocket it after using it without worrying about the tip being hot. Why? The wooden sleeve covers up the hot tip. This is your new go-to product.

Electronic Metal Nectar Collector

It is quite a handy and portable product that can be carried around everywhere and can be used with ease. You can carry this on the go for your instant vaping sessions.

Also, the silicone cap that comes along with the collector ensures that you can use it whenever and wherever without worrying about the heated tip. I am sure you will love this handy gadget, especially when you are out and about.

How To Use A Nectar Collector?

The nectar collector has three main components:

  • Neck
  • Body
  • Tip

The neck is basically the mouthpiece from where you take in the vapors. Between the neck and the tip lies the body, which works as a water chamber. Adding water to the chamber is completely up to you. So, you can use your nectar collector both dry and wet.

Adding water is a good idea as it filters out the smoke. The tip is the real place where the vaping action happens.

It is quite easy to assemble all these parts and use a nectar collector easily. I have broken down the process so you can easily follow it up

Step 1:

Use any concentrate of your choice - wax, shatter, rosin, or oil - and take a little amount in the quartz dish. I personally love using oil as it means less wastage and more flavor. Do not dab straight from the jar that comes with the cannabis concentrates. This is because the tip of the nectar collector is too hot. Its contact with the plastic jar can generate toxic fumes that are not good for your throat and lungs. However, if the jars are made from food-grade silicone, it is okay to dab with them as silicone is heat-resistant.

Step 2:

You can add water to the chamber of your nectar collector to filter the smoke. It also helps cool down the temperature, making it optimal for when you are smoking. You can also dab without the water. Adding water makes the vapor clean for you so that it does not affect your lungs or burn your throat.

Step 3:

Now comes the time for the tip. There are types of tips available. Tips can be made of quartz or titanium and choosing which one to use is up to you. Quartz tips give you a purer taste when dabbing, however, it takes longer to heat up than a titanium tip.

You need to put together the tip and the mouthpiece and secure them with a set of clips. Securing is quite an essential step as this protects your hands or lap from the hot drops. These clips that are used to secure the two pieces together are designed to withstand extreme heat.

Step 4:

Next, you need to heat up your tip to the desired temperature. You can use a butane torch to evenly heat up the tip by moving the flame all around. Do not keep the flame only on one particular part of the tip as this could heat it up to hazardous levels. The high temperature can also lead the glass to break. To know if your nectar collected is heated enough, curl your palm a little and put it at a fist’s distance from the tip. If you can feel the heat radiating from it, then it is ready for dabbing.

Step 5:

When your tip is heated enough, place it on the quartz dish that contains your concentrates. The heat of the tip will vaporize the concentrates. Use the mouthpiece to inhale the vapor. If you have added water, it will help cool down the vapor and make it optimal for inhaling.

If there is no vapor coming, it means that your tip is not hot enough. Remove it from the concentrate and let it cool down. Then, use a tissue to clean the tip and then reheat it.

Just remember never to heat the tip with the concentrate in it. It chars it and makes it impossible to clean it.

How To Clean A Nectar Collector

How to clean silicone or glass nectar collector?

We have posted a blog about "How to Clean a Silicone Nectar Collector". The way to clean the glass nectar collectors is the same as silicone. I have laid down the steps that you can follow to clean up your collector:

Step 1:

First, disassemble your nectar collector. Doing this will show you exactly how dirty it is.

Step 2:

Next, you need to create a cleaning solution. For this, you can use Isopropyl alcohol and salt. Mix them together in bags or containers. You can also add some salt in the hard to reach areas to loosen up the resin and get the best results.

Step 3:

You now need to soak your nectar collector in the cleaning solution. If you have time, you can leave it in the solution overnight. However, anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes can do the trick.

Step 4:

Once you have let the collector sit in the cleaning solution, the next step is to rinse it in room temperature water. You may need to use Q-tips and pipe cleaners to fight the tough resins.

Step 5:

If you need your nectar collector to be completely clean, you may have to use a pipe cleaner or Q-tip. This is the best way to go through the tough areas.

Step 6:

Now, rinse off your nectar collector for two minutes. This is the best way to ensure that all alcohol from the solution is rubbed off. Once rinsing is done, you need to completely let your collector dry as water can damage it if you smoke with it in the chamber.

Step 7:

Finally, it is time for reassembling all the pieces back together. Make sure everything is clean and dry. You are now ready to use your clean silicone or glass nectar collector.

How to clean an electric nectar collector?

Just like silicone or glass nectar collectors, cleaning an electric collector is also quite easy. Here are the steps that you can follow:

Step 1:

First, remove the tip of your electric nectar collector. Then, blow through the mouthpiece to get all the water out of it.

Step 2:

Next, choose a cleaning solution. If unsure about what to use, you can use alcohol. Fill the chamber with it. Let it soak for up to an hour. However, you can leave it overnight if it is too dirty.

Step 3:

The tip needs to be soaked up separately in a ziplock bag.

Step 4:

When you are done soaking the nectar collector, rinse the pieces with hot water until the water runs clear. Make sure there is no alcohol or cleaning solution left on the collector.

Step 5:

Dry it completely before using.

Conclusion

If you are into dabbing, a nectar collector is a great thing to include in your collection. It is compact and durable. Also, there are so many variants that you can choose from - whether you want one that is made of glass or an electronic one, each one of them will give you a feeling of bliss and joy. If you want to follow trends and want a gadget that makes dabbing an easy and enjoyable task, you must get a nectar collector for yourself.
