  • Pipe cleaners
  • Plastic containers
  • Q-Tip
  • Paper towels

Steps to Follow When Cleaning a Nectar Collector

To properly clean your rig, here are the steps you should follow:

1. Separate the pieces of your nectar collector kit

The first step you take when cleaning your dab kit is taking apart the pieces of your nectar collector. Separating the parts allows you to see how dirty inside and keep the pieces from damaging as when you start cleaning them.

Note that cleaning the nail of your nectar collector is different compared to the other pieces. That is important. We will give you a guide on how to clean this piece.

    2. Fill containers with your cleaning solution

The second step is your cleaning solution. Take your Isopropyl alcohol then pour it into the containers or bag you are using for cleaning. Add salt to the solution and lightly stir it to mix the two supplies.

To obtain the best results, pour a bit of the salt through the holes and in places where are difficult to reach during cleaning. Salt will help in loosening up some of the resin that is stack in your rig.

    3. Soak the silicone nectar collector

Step three is soaking your dab kit for at least 30 to 60 minutes. The 30 to 60 timeframe is not compulsory as you can soak your equipment for a shorter period; however, this time frame is the one that provides you with the best results. If you can soak your pieces overnight, that’s even better.

Soaking your silicone nectar collector dab kit does a good job of getting rid of stubborn build in resin, leaving your rig as good as new. Do not skip step three.

    4. Rinse off the solution

After soaking your pieces, it’s time to rinse them off so that you can see how clean they are. Rinsing off the solution allows you to assess how much cleaning the soaking did on the equipment. The water you use for rinsing should be room temperature.

The temperature of the water is crucial since your quartz and glass could break, fracture or became fragile if the rig experiences fast temperature changes. There are times where you’ll need to use the Q-tip and pipe cleaner to remove excess resin that wasn’t cleared out by the solution.

If you encounter excess resin, clean it off by rinsing it with water or soaking it in the solution once more while scrubbing the device to obtain the best results.

    5. Get rid of tough spots using pipe cleaners

If you want precision when cleaning your dab kit, use the Q-Tip and pipe cleaners to get rid of excess particulate and resin that are still hanging on to your equipment. Make sure you are gentle when using pipe cleaners and the Q-Tips.

However, you don’t need to bother yourself with cleaning every inch of your piece to enjoy the cleaning process benefits. We don’t mean you avoid being thorough; however, don’t overthink the cleaning process. You also want to enjoy the process and not stress about it.

    6. Rinse with water then let the rig dry

Once you are done soaking your device, ensure you use water to rinse out the solution for at least two minutes. Rinsing out your piece helps in removing any particulate that is remaining on the rig. Water also gets rid of all the alcohol.

It’s vital you thoroughly rinse your piece with water to avoid inhaling alcohol fumes. These fumes are dangerous to your health, and the last thing we want is for you to fall ill when enjoying a dabbing session.

Once you finish rinsing your nectar collector dab kit, let it dry out. Allowing your piece to dry is vital since water can damage your nectar if you smoke when there’s some water in the chamber. Water can also harm you when it’s not dried off completely.

    7. Put your equipment back together

Now that your nectar collector is all clean and dry, it’s time to put it back together and enjoy your dabbing sessions.

    8. Cleaning your nectar collector nails

Remember, we said that the steps of cleaning the nail are different from the other pieces. How you clean your nail depends on the it’s type. If your nectar collector has a titanium tip, your cleaning options are very minimal since most cleaning solutions break down the outer coating that protects the titanium tip.

Titanium tips, therefore, force you to use cleaning ways that are more natural or you burn them clean. If your nectar collector has ceramic or quartz tips, cleaning solutions will work just fine on them.

How Often Should We Clean the Silicone Nectar Collector?

You should try to clean your nectar collector at least every 3 to 6 months to prevent mold spores and bacteria from growing. Cleaning your nectar collector also contributes to its durability, and the cleaner your dab straw is, the longer it will last.

That’s it -The process of cleaning a nectar collector. You can now go back to enjoy clean, dabbing sessions.

      • That is complicated and wastes the reclaim. Take the silicone pieces and put them in the freezer for a half hour or so and then just take them and roll and squeeze them and knock the frozen reclaim out into a dish. Repeat if necessary. Fastest and easiest way by far.
